Don't Blink!

Think!: Why Crucial Decisions Can't Be Made in the Blink of an Eye
Think!: Why Crucial Decisions Can't Be Made in the Blink of an Eye

- Michael R. LeGault. Simon & Schuster. 2006.
America is suffering from a thinking deficiency, according to Michael R. LeGault in his new book Think!: Why Crucial Decisions Can't be Made in the Blink of an Eye. In his rebuttal of Michael Gladwell's bestselling Blink - The Power of Thinking Without Thinking the author demonstrates the damage done to our national and individual well-being by years of emotionalism, political correctness and "trash culture". Citing our decline in problem-solving skills, divisions along ideological lines and worsening health, the author states that the solution to our problems lies not in reliance on feelings and snap judgements but on critical thinking and objectivity. LeGault offers models of independent thinking in Heraclitus, Einstein, Copernicus, Shakespeare, Edison, Newton, Darwin, Margulis and Witten. In addition, he discusses common logical fallacies and suggests ways of repairing our culture. This book is well worth reading as a guide to personal and national improvement.
